Recently, a video of a woman beating a man, sitting inside a car, with slippers went viral on social media. Sharing the video users claimed that the video shows a Hindu girl student of Delhi University beating a Bangladeshi ‘jihadi’. Sharing the video on Facebook, a user wrote, “A Bangladeshi jihadi was giving false advice to Hindu girls at Delhi University to trap them in love jihad.
Then the girl students showed courage and caught the jihadi red-handed and beat him with shoes and slippers.
Then they handed him over to the police.”
However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was misleading. The video is not from India. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to the Instagram handle “dhakachronicles” where the viral video was uploaded on April 26, 2026.

The caption of the video read, “Students Beat Alleged Female Harasser With Sandals at FBS, University of Dhaka.”
Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a report published in The Daily Campus on April 26, 2026, that contained an image similar to the screenshots from the viral video.

The report read, “Dhaka University (DU) students detained and physically assaulted an outsider today after he was caught making ‘indescribable’ obscene gestures and harassing female students. The incident, which culminated in the suspect being handed over to the police, took place on Sunday (April 26) afternoon near the Faculty of Business Studies.
A video of the confrontation quickly went viral on social media, showing a crowd of students surrounding a car. In the footage, a female student is seen striking the man with a shoe as he sat inside the vehicle, while others shouted in protest against his behavior.
Assistant Proctor Ali Mohammad Kawsar confirmed the incident to The Daily Campus, stating that the individual does not appear to be a member of the university community. He noted that the proctorial team struggled to mediate as the situation escalated. “The gestures he was making were so offensive they are beyond words. The students were rightfully furious, and it became a challenge to extract him from the crowd safely,” Kawsar explained.
Following his rescue from the mob, the university authorities handed the suspect over to the police. The administration has signaled its intent to take strict legal action to prevent such harassment on campus grounds. “We have handed him over to law enforcement, and the university will follow through with formal legal procedures,” the Assistant Proctor added.
The suspect is currently in police custody for further interrogation. The incident has sparked a wider conversation among the student body regarding campus security and the frequent presence of outsiders engaging in harassment near academic buildings.”
We found the video on the official YouTube channel of Notun Shomoy on April 28, 2026.
Other reports can be seen here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is not from Delhi University. The video is from Dhaka University.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video of a woman beating a man with slippers is not from Delhi University. The incident took place in the Dhaka University, Bangladesh, where the man was beaten for eve-teasing.
