The ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) youth-led protest in New Delhi has entered a critical phase. Activists continue their round-the-clock sit-in at Jantar Mantar, and their central demand was the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Against this backdrop, a video of a Muslim man trying to set fire to a black SUV is going viral on social media. The users who share the post claim that a CJP protestor set ablaze a car in broad daylight. Sharing the video, users claimed that the incident took place during the CJP’s protest in Jantar Mantar.
Let’s check the truth.
Fact check:
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to an Instagram post carrying a similar video with the caption “video of a mob trying to set a car on fire after a road accident in Bihar.”
Moving forward, we found a News 18 post on the same incident on Instagram on July 17. The caption states that an enraged crowd had tried to set fire to a vehicle that had caused an accident in Bihar.

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found many media reports regarding this incident. As per a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the incident took place in Gaya, where a Thar bearing a sticker for the BJP collided with an autorickshaw and a motorcycle, leaving the motorcyclists seriously injured. The report further states, as per people present, the woman who was driving allegedly fled the spot after the accident. Locals then proceeded to vandalise the car.
So, based on all this evidence, we can understand that the footage actually shows outraged locals trying to set a car on fire after an accident in Gaya, Bihar.
Conclusion
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be Misleading. This video shows a mob trying to set a car on fire after a road accident in Bihar. It has no link to the ongoing CJP protest in New Delhi.
