Video from 2025 falsely shared as youths gathering at India Gate in support of the Delhi Police against the CJP protests

The Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) ‘Sansad Chalo’ Parliament march took place on 20 July 2026, resulting in heavy clashes, tear gas shelling, and lathi charges in Central Delhi. The demonstration was to protest widespread irregularities and paper leaks in the 2026 NEET-UG and CBSE examinations. Their central demand was the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Against this backdrop, a video of people holding “We Support Delhi Police” placards is going viral on social media with claims like “Counter-Protest at India Gate, A group of youths gathered at India Gate to express support for the Delhi Police and oppose the agenda of protesters associated with the ongoing Jantar Mantar demonstrations.”

Fact check:

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a Facebook post carrying the similar video, and it was uploaded in November 2025. The caption states, “We will not allow support for Naxalites like Hidma.” 

This indicates that the viral video is old and not related to the current CJP protests.

Using these hints, we conducted further keyword searches and found a report by the New Indian Express, covering the same protest. It states that some people had raised slogans supporting Maoist leader Madvi Hidma, who was killed in an encounter a few days prior to a protest against air pollution in Delhi. The report further adds Delhi Police arrested 22 people for allegedly assaulting personnel, obstructing them, blocking roads, and using pepper spray during the protest.

We also looked for reports that would confirm whether a separate group of youths had gathered at India Gate to show support for the Delhi Police amid the ongoing CJP protests, but we found no credible information.

Conclusion
