A viral circular in the name of RBI is widely circulating on social media with the claim that this notification has been issued in the name of the Reserve Bank of India claims to offer ₹4 crores 59 lakhs to the beneficiary. The notification is an official compensation payment notice.
It states that the customers of RBI has claim ₹4 crores 59 lakhs as a lottery fund by the RBI and British Government. Further, the notification asks for personal details upon submitting, which, the amount will be, credited to the beneficiaries bank accounts. The contract type is categorized as Lottery/ inheritance/ undelivered lottery fund.

We started our investigation by running a keyword search for relevant news reports on Google. However, we could not find any news report that states RBI’s announcement on any lottery amount for its beneficiaries.
We visited RBI’s website for the same notification but could not find the same or similar notification.
Next, Fact Crescendo contacted Yogesh K Dayal, who is the Chief General Manager of the Reserve Bank of India. He told us “The viral notification is a Fake document. The RBI has not issued this notification. RBI does not issue any lottery fund or inheritance fund to their beneficiaries. Fraudsters who try to bait / hook gullible social media users have created this notification. RBI never makes calls or send emails to collect any personal information”
PIB Fact Check has also issued a clarification on social media stating that “this is a fake notification issued in the name of the Reserve Bank of India claims to offer ₹4 crores 59 lakhs to the beneficiary.”
Fact Crescendo found the viral claim to be False. RBI has not issued any notification claiming to offer ₹4 crores 59 lakhs to the beneficiaries. The viral notification is circulation is fake. The chief general manager of RBI has called out this notification as a fake one.
