We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on a Facebook post by a Bangladesh-based media outlet on 16 September 2025. According to these reports, the video shows a girl being assaulted in Dhaka, Bangladesh, for allegedly stealing money. According to the video’s caption, the woman seen in the footage is named Anika and was caught stealing at a market.
Moving forward, we found another Bangladeshi media outlet named Bd Tube Master News also published the video on Facebook on 17 September, 2025 including the same details about the incident. The extended version of the video published by these media outlets does not contain any audio of people forcing the girl to chant “Jai Shree Ram”.
Thus, it is clear that a video from Bangladesh was edited with an audio overlay to claim that a Muslim woman had been forced to chant ‘Jai Sri Ram’ slogans by Hindus in India. The original video is from Dhaka and related to a theft incident in a shop. It has no communal angle.
