However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was false. The viral video is old and not from Japan. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to Reddit, where a wider crop and longer version of the video was uploaded on May 24, 2025.

The caption of the video read, “CCTV footage captures 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Mandalay, Myanmar. 28 March 2025”

We noticed a name “Lady Bug” on the wall.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to a YouTube channel where the viral video was uploaded on May 5, 2025.

We noticed the date and time in the top right corner of the CCTV footage. The store was located in Mandalay, Myanmar.

This makes it clear that the viral video is from March 28, 2025.

Moving forward, we found the video on the Facebook page of “Ladybug nail academy & accessories supply” on May 11, 2025.

According to the caption, the video was from March 28, 2025. The earthquake had damaged the first and ground floors of the Ladybug store.

Another report can be seen below.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show the earthquake in Japan on June 25, 2026. This is an old video from the Myanmar earthquake on March 28, 2025.
