Viral Claim That Oreo and Colgate Launched an Oreo-Flavored Toothpaste Is False

Consumer Safety Fact Check False

A viral image circulating across social media platforms claims that Oreo has teamed up with Colgate to release an Oreo-flavored toothpaste. The graphic, styled to resemble a breaking news announcement, has been widely shared, prompting users to question whether the unusual collaboration is genuine. Our investigation found no evidence that Oreo or Colgate has announced or released an Oreo-flavored toothpaste. Instead, the claim appears to have originated from a fabricated social media post and is unsupported by any official or credible source.

Social Media Posts

The viral claim is supported by a professionally styled graphic that imitates a legitimate Colgate toothpaste package featuring Oreo branding, alongside text asserting that the two global brands have entered into a partnership to debut an Oreo-flavored oral care product.

Fact Check

No Official Announcement Supports the Claim

Our investigation found no evidence that Oreo, its parent company Mondelēz International, or Colgate-Palmolive has announced an Oreo-flavored toothpaste.

A review of Mondelēz International’s official newsroom, regional press releases, and Oreo brand pages shows numerous announcements for new Oreo flavors, limited-edition packaging, and promotional collaborations. Recent examples include the OREO Pokémon campaign in Thailand, the OREO × BTS collaboration, and several regional flavor launches, all of which were formally announced through the company’s official media channels. However, no press release, marketing campaign, or product announcement mentions any partnership with Colgate.

Similarly, Colgate-Palmolive’s official newsroom and product websites contain no reference to an Oreo-flavored toothpaste or any collaboration with the Oreo brand. Instead, the company continues to promote its existing oral care products, including Colgate Total, Optic White, Max Fresh and children’s toothpaste lines.

We also searched the official social media accounts of Oreo and Colgate, including Instagram, Facebook and X, and found no announcement of such a collaboration.

The absence of any official announcement is significant. Product collaborations between globally recognized consumer brands are typically supported by coordinated marketing campaigns, press releases, retailer listings, and media outreach. None of these exist in this case.

The Viral Graphic Originated from an Unofficial Social Media Account

The claim appears to have originated from an Instagram account named “worldexnewss,” which shared a professionally designed image claiming that Oreo and Colgate had partnered to create an Oreo-flavored toothpaste.

A polished graphic alone is not evidence that a product exists. Images of this kind can be created using basic graphic-design software and frequently circulate online as engagement bait.
Additionally, further analysis of the visual evidence using Hive Moderation, an AI-generated image detector, indicates that the circulating graphic is likely AI-generated.

A Collaboration of This Scale Would Leave a Large Public Record

Oreo and Colgate are major global consumer brands. A partnership between companies of this scale would typically involve significant commercial activity, including press releases and widespread media coverage. No such announcements or reports from credible news outlets have been identified. The claim is currently limited to social media, without independent confirmation from official company channels or third-party sources.

Colgate’s Official Product Catalogue Does Not Include an Oreo Toothpaste

A review of Colgate’s official product catalogue likewise found no evidence that an Oreo-flavored toothpaste has ever been released.

Colgate’s toothpaste portfolio focuses on products developed for cavity protection, whitening, sensitivity relief, gum health, and children’s oral care. While the company has introduced different mint varieties and flavor formulations over the years, none are co-branded with Oreo or any Mondelēz snack brand.. (Source)

If such a product had entered the market, consumers would reasonably expect it to appear in Colgate’s official catalogue or online store. No such listing exists.

Moreover, Colgate has previously warned consumers about false information and counterfeit products circulating online. However, those incidents concern unrelated product safety claims and do not provide evidence that an Oreo-flavored toothpaste exists.

Conclusion

The claim that Oreo has partnered with Colgate to launch an Oreo-flavored toothpaste is false. Our investigation found no evidence from Oreo, Mondelēz International, Colgate-Palmolive, or any credible news organization that such a product exists. The claim appears to have originated from a fabricated social media graphic posted by an unofficial account before being widely reshared across social media platforms.
