Fact check:

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on an Instagram page on 28 March 2026. The caption of the post states, “Hindutva nationalists attacked Muslim vendors, their shops, and carts, burning their belongings during a Ram Navami procession organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Murshidabad, West Bengal, on March 27.”

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found several media reports covering violence that took place in Murshidabad. As per reports, Violence broke out during a Ram Navami procession in Murshidabad’s Jangipur and Raghunathganj areas in West Bengal on 27 March, 2026, resulting in stone-pelting, arson, and at least 30 arrests. The clashes, involving two groups, led to vandalized property, shops, and vehicles.

This makes it clear that the viral video shows a Ram Navami-related clash in Murshidabad from March 2026. It has no link to West Bengal Assembly election results.
