However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was false. The viral video is unrelated to the West Bengal Assembly Elections. Here’s the fact check.

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram handle “youtuberdip” where the viral video was uploaded on January 5, 2026.
On May 5, 2025, the user wrote a disclaimer, “The Reel You’re watching were shot about 5 months ago, on January 5th. It was during a Muslim festival in the Puinan area of West Bengal, called the Biswa Ijtema, where all the Muslims gathered for their festival. This is the scene I captured, showing how large the crowd was. This video is not related to any political party or agenda,people are misunderstanding and spreading it in the wrong way. I just made this video to show the crowd, so please do not link it to politics—”
Moreover, in the video, the user, Dip Ghosh, said that the people gathered in Hooghly, West Bengal during Biswa Ijtema, a religious event.
We conducted a relevant keyword search and found news reports on the Biswa Ijtema held at Hooghly, West Bengal from January 2 to January 5, 2026.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show Bangladeshi people leaving West Bengal after the BJP’s victory in the recent elections. This is an old video from a religious event, Biswa Ijtema, held at Hooghly, West Bengal in January 2025.
