However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to the Bargi Dam Cruise accident. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook post on December 26, 2025, that contained a longer version of the viral video.

The caption of the post read, “A boat capsized in Kaptai Lake on Thursday afternoon, triggering panic among passengers as the vessel suddenly overturned in the middle of the lake. The video shows people struggling in the water moments after the incident, with nearby boats and locals rushing in to help.”
Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to the YouTube channel of Prothom Alo where the viral video was uploaded on December 26, 2025. According to the report, a boat with 19 passengers capsized in the Kaptai Lake in Rangamati, Bangladesh on December 25, 2025.
Other similar reports can be seen here, here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the recent Bargi Dam Cruise accident.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show the recent Bargi Dam Cruise accident. This is an old video from Bangladesh.
