We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on an Instagram handle on 20 August, 2025. The caption of the video read, “Tuesday’s heavy rainfall in Karachi led to a man being swept away by rainwater on Shahrah-e-Faisal.”
This indicates that the viral video is old and not related to Kerala.
Moving forward, we found the same video on another Instagram handle also, and it was uploaded on 20 August, 2025.
According to the caption, the video is from Shahrah-e-Faisal, Pakistan. For more clarification, we geolocated the video to the area near the Nursery Flyover in Karachi. It also confirms that the viral video is from Karachi, Pakistan, not Kerala.
As per reports, Karachi experienced significant urban flooding around 19-20 August 2025. At least 11 people have died and 10 others have been injured due to torrential monsoon rains that flooded roads, collapsed structures, and caused widespread power outages. Local media reported that victims included those electrocuted or trapped under debris.
So, taking account of all this evidence, we can understand that the video is from Karachi, Pakistan, not Kerala.
