Old and unrelated videos falsely shared as terror attack on Indian Army Camp in Rajouri

False National

Two videos have gone viral on social media, claiming that a terror group styling itself as Kashmir Freedom Fighters attacked an Indian Army camp in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, killing four soldiers and gravely injuring more than 20 others. The first video shows a massive explosion engulfing a building in flames, while the second features a senior police officer addressing the media and confirming four deaths, creating the impression that both visuals are connected to the same attack.

The caption of the post states, “Kashmiri freedom fighters reportedly attacked an Indian Army camp in Rajouri, Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, killing 4 personnel and critically injuring over 20 others”.

Fact Check

We started our investigation with a keyword search for Indian Army camp Rajouri attack on Google but, we could not find any credible media reports or official statements from the Indian Army confirming such an incident recently.

Next, we conducted a reverse image search on Google with the keyframes of the first video to find the original source and the results led us to a video report by WION uploaded on 15 November, 2025, carrying the same visuals.

As per the description, at least nine people were killed, and another 29 were injured in a massive explosion that rocked the Nowgam police station in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. “The explosion, it is learnt, took place when a team from the forensic sciences laboratory was examining seized explosives stored in the police station compound”.

Moving forward we found several news reports regarding this incident. A report by the Times of India published on 15 November 2025, also carried similar visuals, confirming that the blast rocked Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar.

Second video- showing the briefing of a senior police officer to the media

We conducted a reverse image search and the results led us to the extended version of the video, uploaded on the official X handle of IGP Jammu on 13 May, 2022. In the video, the then Additional Director General (ADG), Mukesh Singh, was briefing the media about a bus accident, and not an army camp attack.

As per reports, in May 2022, a bus carrying pilgrims returning from Vaishno Devi caught fire while travelling from Katra to Jammu. The incident killed four people and injured over 20 others.

Apart from this, the fact checking unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India has also refuted the viral claim. PIB tweeted on 20 February 2026 that the viral claim is fake. The tweet states, “A Pakistani propaganda account, ‘Markhor_Paki’, has shared two old videos claiming that Kashmiri freedom fighters reportedly attacked an Indian Army camp in Rajouri. This claim is FAKE.

You can see the post below.

So, based on these evidences, we can understand that both videos are old and unrelated to each other. Meanwhile, no such attack has been reported.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral videos to be False. Both videos are old and unrelated, no such attack has been reported.
