Fact Check-

A reverse image search on the keyframes of the video led us to a video report featured in a News18 Assamese & North East on 13 November 2025. The report discusses an elephant attack in Numaligarh, located in Assam’s Golaghat district, an area surrounded by dense forests. The 4-minute 51-second-long video shows the viral footage from the timestamp of 00:28 to the 01:17 minute.

Moving forward, we found an extended version of the viral video uploaded on YouTube by Elephant Zoom under the caption, ‘A Large Herd of Wild Elephants Crossing National Highway 39 Near Marangi Circle Office, Assam’.

For more clarification, we searched for the location mentioned in the video on Google Maps, National Highway 39 near the Marangi Circle Office, we found that the shops and structures visible in the viral video match the location perfectly. This made it clear that the video is from Assam, not Karnataka.

We also looked into recent elephant-related incidents in Sakleshpur, Hassan district, but we found no credible reports of a large herd of elephants entering the town.
