However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was false. The video shows CM Vijay in Perambur, Tamil Nadu. Here’s the fact check.

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. We found no credible news reports stating that Vijay Thalapathy visited Jantar Mantar.

Moving forward, we conducted a reverse image search of the screenshots from the viral video. This led us to a YouTube channel where we found a similar video to the viral one uploaded on July 13, 2026.

According to the caption, the video shows Vijay Thalapathy’s visit to Perambur.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to the official YouTube channel of India Today, where we found a clip matching the viral video. 

According to the caption, the video is from Vijay Thalapathy’s first official Perambur visit post-election. The description of the video read, “The newly elected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister made a first official visit to the retained constituency to inaugurate a legislative office and launch a state ration card distribution programme. Thousands of citizens, including school children and elderly residents, gathered for hours despite high temperatures to witness the arrival of the actor-turned-politician.
