Palestinian Flag During CJP’s Protest? Here’s The Fact Check.

A video of a woman carrying a Palestinian flag during a protest went viral on social media, claiming it to be a clip from the CJP’s protest in Jantar Mantar.

However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to CJP’s protest. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in The Free Press Journal on October 29, 2023, which contained images similar to the screenshots from the viral video.

The report read, “A video of Delhi police personnel snatching a flag from a woman protester and tearing it into pieces has gone viral on social media. Several students and civil society members had gathered at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Friday to protest Israeli action in Gaza strip and in support of Palestine.

As the protest ensued, police briefly detained over 50 people protesting at the site. As the detainees were being taken away by the police, a woman protester was seen holding the paper flag of Palestine.

As woman cops were accompanying and guiding the women detainees, one of the male cops standing on the sidelines stepped in to snatch the Palestine flag from the woman. He then went on to tear the flag into pieces as the woman watched.”

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. This led us to the original video uploaded on the YouTube channel Journo Mirror on October 28, 2023.

From the timestamp 13:13, the viral clip can be seen. According to the report, the video was from a pro Palestine protest at Jantar Mantar in October 2023.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show a woman carrying a Palestinian flag during the CJP’s protest. This is an old video from a Pro Palestine protest at Jantar Mantar in October 2023.
