After the incident of the NEET exam paper leak, a video of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh went viral on social media. In the video, Rajnath Singh says, “Ministers won’t resign in this brother. This is not the UPA government, this is the NDA government”. Sharing the video, users claimed that this is the statement of Rajnath Singh following the NEET exam paper leak.

However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was misleading. The viral video is old and unrelated to the NEET exam paper leak. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to a report published in NDTV on June 24, 2015, that read, “Home Minister Rajnath Singh today ruled out any resignations in the Lalit Modi controversy that has engulfed his party, saying: “We are the NDA, not the UPA.”
Mr Singh was responding to Congress demands for the removal of Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who have been accused of helping Lalit Modi with his immigration or travel papers when his passport was revoked by the Indian government over corruption charges against him.
“There will be no resignation of ministers,” Rajnath Singh told reporters after announcing decisions made by the Cabinet today.
“Our ministers don’t do what UPA ministers used to do,” added his colleague Ravi Shankar Prasad…”
We found the viral video on a report on the official YouTube channel of Times Now on June 24, 2015.
The description of the video read, Home Minister Rajnath Singh today ruled out the possibility of resignations of any Union Minister including Sushma Swaraj who is under attack in the ‘Lalitgate’ controversy. “Our ministers do not have to resign. This is not UPA government, this is NDA government,” he said. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also added that the actions of the NDA ministers were not similar in proportion to those of the UPA ministers’. These statements come on a day when a Delhi court said that the plea against HRD minister Smriti Irani in the fake degree row case is ‘maintainable’, which has led to the Opposition demanding her resignation. TIMES NOW had exposed the involvement of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in helping Lalit Modi’s travel and stay in the UK, even when the Enforcement Directorate was probing cases of financial irregularities against him.
Other reports can be read here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. As claimed, Rajnath Singh’s “Ministers won’t resign” statement is not related to the NEET 2026 exam paper leak incident. Rajnath Singh made this remark in June 2015 on the Lalit Modi controversy.
