Recently, a video of a massive crowd went viral on social media. Sharing the video users claimed that it shows a large number of Muslim people leaving West Bengal following the BJP’s victory in the West Bengal Assembly Elections.

However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was false. The viral video is unrelated to the West Bengal Assembly Elections. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a similar video on a Facebook page on January 12, 2026.

According to the caption, the video shows people boarding a large boat.

A similar video was uploaded on another Facebook page according to which the video shows people boarding a large boat after the Charmonai Mahfil.

It is worth mentioning that Charmonai Mahfil is one of Bangladesh’s largest annual Islamic gatherings (Waz Mahfil), held at Charmonai Darbar Sharif in Barishal.

This makes it clear that the viral video is unrelated to the recent West Bengal Assembly Elections.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show Muslims leaving West Bengal after the BJP’s victory in the recent West Bengal Assembly Elections. This is an old video from Bangladesh.
