Did Kapil Sibal say that he will commit suicide before the construction work of Ram Mandir finishes? Know the truth.
Currently, a screenshot of a tweet by Kapil Sibal is going viral on social media. The tweet dated back to 29 July 2020. It was written on the tweet that Kapil Sibal will commit suicide before the construction of Ram Mandir is over.
Users are currently claiming that Kapil Sibal tweeted this and now it is time to remind him to fulfill what he had promised.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false and baseless. There were no such statements made by senior advocate Kapil Sibal. This tweet was created using online tweet generator tools.
Fact Check-
At first, we tried to find the Twitter account from which the screenshot of the tweet was taken. Upon searching Twitter, we couldn’t find the same account with username @kapilsibal. This raised our suspicion on the credibility of the account and the tweet.
After this we found that the real Twitter account of Advocate Kapil Sibal carries a different username @KapilSibal.
From the above fact we found that the viral screenshot of the tweet did not come from the original account of Kapil Sibal. Below you can see the difference.
We also search for the tweets by Kapil Sibal from 27 July 2020 to 31 July 2020. But, we did not find any tweets from him during that period where he mentioned about Ram Mandir or his suicide. During this time he made two tweets that you can see below.
In our further research, we tried to find out the archive of the tweets deleted by him. We did not find any such tweets posted by him as it was mentioned in the claim.
We want to notify our readers that there are multiple sites available on the internet which helps in generating fake tweets in the name of any person. As the Twitter account mentioned in the viral image does not exist, it can be concluded that the tweet about Kapil Sibal’s suicide was created one of the fake tweet generator websites.
What was Kapil Sibal’s view on Ram Mandir?
A relevant keyword search led us to an article published on Zee News website in 2017. According to the report, Kapil Sibal clarified that he himself had never been a lawyer of the Waqf Board. Further he also said that Ram Mandir will be built in Ayodhya when Lord Ram wishes.
Conclusion:
Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The viral Twitter account does not exist. The tweet about Kapil Sibal’s suicide before completion of Ram Mandir construction was generated by using fake tweet generator websites.
