Video from Gaza shared as blasts at the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan

With the recent unrest on social media after the Taliban took over the country of Afghanistan, reporters report a terrifying news of a twin blast that took place near Kabul Airport claiming lives of at least 60 Afghans and 13 US troop on 26th August 2021. Amidst this, a video showing a huge blast in the middle of a city is being passed off on social media claiming to be footage of on another blast that took place at the Kabul airport. The video further claims that the Taliban have clarified that these blasts were done by ISIS.

The caption of the post mentions that “Breaking news of bomb blast reported at Kabul Airport”

This video is also going viral on twitter with the claim that mentions” Second explosion hit Baron Hotel near #Kabul airport in #Afghanistan where Americans were rescued last week. Casualties reported.”

Fact Check- 

We started our investigation by breaking the video into small keyframes with the help of the InVid We Verify tool and ran a reverse image search for the same. The results led us to the same video published by the Haberler news on the 21st August 2021. The report states that Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on different parts of the blockaded Gaza Strip. According to the report 41 Palestinians were injured in the demonstrations held at the border of the blockaded Gaza Strip. These blasts took place during a protest to organised to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the burning of the Masjid Al-Aqsa by a fanatical Jew in 1969. 

We found that the video was also uploaded on daily motion with the caption stating that a huge explosion was heard in Gaza. It was reported that Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on different parts of the Gaza Strip.

This video was also uploaded by the verified YouTube account of A Haber on 22nd August 2021.The headline of the video mentioned that Israel launched an airstrike at the Gaza strip. According to the description of the video the Israeli army carried out airstrikes on some points in the blockaded Gaza Strip. Tensions rose in the region after the demonstrations organized by hundreds of Palestinians gathered on the Gaza-Israel border. It mentions that the incident took place on the 52nd anniversary of the burning of Masjid al-Aqsa by a fanatical Jew in 1969. Giving a brief history of this incident it mentions that Dennis Michael Rohan, a fanatic of Australian origin, entered Al-Aqsa Mosque.  On August 21st, 1969 and burned the altar of the Qibla Mosque and the 1000-year-old Saladin pulpit. Thus, on August 19th, the Israeli army decided to increase its forces on the Gaza border. 

Al Jazeera posted a longer version of this video on their official Twitter handle on 22nd August 2021 stating that the video shows the first scenes of the Israeli raids on the sites of the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip.

Conclusion- Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the above-mentioned video is False. The viral video on social media shows the recent blasts that took place in the Gaza strip. The video has no relation with the twin blasts that took place at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan.
