BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s emotional video from 2020 is going viral linking to the Bankipur By-Election.

Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor won the Bankipur Assembly by-election in Bihar on 3 August 2026, defeating Neeraj Kumar Sinha of the BJP by a decisive margin of 19,324 votes. Against this backdrop, a video of Manoj Tiwari, BJP North East Delhi MP, becoming emotional is going viral on social media. The footage shows Tiwari sitting inside a car during an interaction with reporters. He becomes emotional and wipes away tears as he speaks. The users who share the video claim that Tiwari broke down after the BJP’s defeat in the Bankipur by-election.

Fact check:

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to an extended version of the viral video uploaded on the TV9 Bharatvarsh YouTube channel on 14 January 2020. 

It was uploaded under the caption “Manoj Tiwari challenges Arvind Kejriwal, why did he become emotional on camera? Exclusive Interview.” The viral video can be seen at the time stamp of 14:10 to 15:30.

The interview was recorded during the 2020 Delhi Assembly election campaign.  Manoj Tiwari was serving as the BJP’s Delhi unit president at the time, and the interview was conducted by senior journalist Abhishek Upadhyay. During the interview, Manoj Tiwari became emotional while recalling his struggling days.

 During our investigation, we looked into Manoj Tiwari’s social media handles. His X handle had reposted BJP President Nitin Nabin’s and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s post-Bankipur by-election reactions. Manoj Tiwari reposted the two leaders’ posts, writing,  “This is the hallmark of the BJP. In every situation, accepting the people’s mandate and, while upholding the dignity of democracy to the highest level, also congratulating the rival winners—this is also about continuously setting an example. Congratulations to all the winners of the 2026 by-elections.”

Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be Misleading. This is an old video, and it dates to 2020. It is unrelated to the bypoll result in Bankipur, Bihar.
