Heavy rainfall has caused extensive flooding in Assam, resulting in a death toll of 80 with over 2.12 lakh people continuing to remain severely affected across eight districts. Against this backdrop, a video is going viral on social media with the claim that it shows the dead bodies of victims of the 2026 Assam floods.
Let’s check the truth.
Fact check:
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a similar video uploaded by an Instagram creator named Simran SK on 3 July 2026 with the laughter emoji.

According to reports, the recent major flood wave in Assam began around July 19-20, more than two weeks after the video was uploaded. This indicates that the video predates the Assam floods and is unrelated to the disaster.
When we closely analysed other videos from the account, we found that this account regularly posts dramatic staged videos similar to the viral video. One such video shows people lying motionless on the ground, in the manner of bodies, while other videos feature them playing in water.
This clearly confirms that the scene was staged and created for entertainment purposes, not a real incident.
Conclusion
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be False. This video is staged and does not show a real incident. It has no link to the Assam floods.
