A video showing a large crowd at a public event is going viral on social media with the claim that millions of people participated in a protest in Assam against the Indian Army and police for allegedly harassing minorities.

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on the Facebook account of Kashmir Crown on 3 May 2026. The title states, “Massive Public Gathering in Doda During MLA Mehraj Malik’s Visit.”

Moving forward, we found a video report by Excelsior News regarding this event, stating that thousands of people attended a rally addressed by AAP MLA Mehraj Malik in Doda. Mehraj Malik was released from jail after his PSA was quashed by the J&K High Court.

As per reports on 3 May 2026, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraj Malik held a massive homecoming rally at the sports stadium in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, drawing an estimated 40,000 supporters to celebrate his release from preventive detention under the Public Safety Act. 

Thousands of people gathered in the Doda sports stadium, defying restrictions imposed by the district administration on public assemblies.

There is no verified, widespread protest currently taking place in Assam against the Indian Army for the targeted harassment of minorities. The video is not from Assam and has no connection to the Indian Army.

Taking account of all this evidence, it is clear that the viral video shows a political rally organized by Aam Aadmi Party MLA Mehraj Malik in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, in May 2026.
