A video showing a person in military uniform performing namaz next to a building has gone viral on social media. The video claims that the soldier is a member of the Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who was offering prayers while on duty.
The caption of the video states “Viral Video of CRPF Personnel Performing Salah on Market Duty Wins Hearts”.
Let’s check the truth.
Fact Check-
We started our investigation by performing a reverse image search with the key frames of the viral video and the results led us to the same video uploaded on 18 January on Facebook by Fahad Bhuiyan, a Bangladeshi journalist. The caption in Bangla states that a road blockade protest was underway in front of the Election Commission’s office. While on duty as a journalist, Bhuiyan noted that the uniformed personnel in the video were deployed there as part of the armed forces. He observed that the personnel had borrowed a chair from someone and were performing the Namaz prayer during their duty hours.

Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found the same video uploaded by the official YouTube channel of NTV News under the caption, “Army member prays while on duty in front of Election Commission | Bangladesh Army”.
Bangla Tribune also shared the same video under the title, “Army personnel pray on the street while performing duties in front of the Election Commission”.

As per these reports, the man seen offering namaz was a Bangladesh Army member stationed at the Election Commission’s offices in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Conclusion-Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. This video is from Bangladesh and it shows a member of the Bangladesh Army prays while on duty in front of Election Commission in Dhaka.
