False International

The image has no relation with the ongoing anti-hijab protest in Iran. The image dates back to 2021 showing an incident from Pakistan.

Iran executed the first person in relation to the anti-hijab protests that has rocked the nation since the past three months. A 23-year-old protester Mohsen Shekari was convicted of blocking a road inflicting a knife injury on a paramilitary guard. This is the first known execution in relation with the anti-government protests going on in Iran.

Amidst this, an image of a woman with a severely bruised back is circulating on social media with the claim that it shows an Iranian female demonstrator who was beaten by the government authorities during the anti-hijab protest.

The caption of the image states, “Iranian female demonstrater beaten up by regime’s thugs during #IranRevoIution. This is why @UN_HRC demands investigation.”
