CCTV footage showing a couple of boys stabbing another boy is going viral on social media. The caption with the video reads, “when opposed to the molestation of his sister, boys from the Muslim community stabbed a Hindu boy”.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. Both the accused and victim were from the same community.
What’s The Claim?
Sharing the video, social media users are claiming that when a boy named Manoj Negi opposed the molestation of his sister, a few boys from the Muslim community stabbed him in Delhi’s Patel Nagar area.
This video was initially shared by Sudarshan News via tweet. Below you can see the same video.
Fact Check-
At first, we contacted Delhi’s Patel Nagar Police Station and spoke to the investigating officer Kuldeep Singh. He informed us,“Both the accused and the victim were from the same Hindu community and were neighbors. They had an argument over some issue. The whole incident started as a small fight. But in the heat of the moment one of the accused stabbed the victim with a vegetable knife. It was not an intentional murder. This incident took place near the victim’s house while he was returning from his classes. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead. Police reached the spot and within two hours both the accused were detained. The claim is false that two Muslim boys murdered a Hindu boy because all three were Hindus.”
When we asked for a copy of the FIR and details of the accused and victims, the police said that as the incident involved all minors they cannot disclose any details.
A keyword search on Google led us to a report published by NDTV on 29 October 2022. According to the report, a teenager protested against a couple of boys for harassing his sister. This incident led to a fight during which the two accused stabbed the victim. This incident took place near the victim’s house. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead. Police detained the two accused who are minors.
Conclusion:
Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. Delhi police confirmed that the accused and the victim were from Hindu community and were neighbor. The claim of the accused being Muslims is false. The whole incident is viral on social media with false communal angle.
