In Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, a 13-year-old girl was abducted and gang raped for five days in various hotels in the city. 14 out of 32 suspects have been arrested so far. Against this backdrop, a video of a girl in a hospital bed went viral on social media. The viral video features a collage of two clips. In a blurred video, a girl says that everyone will be implicated, including the police, after her death. Another clip on the top right corner of the video shows a man and a woman consoling a girl in a hospital bed. Sharing the video, users claimed that it shows the Sri Ganganagar rape victim.
However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was misleading. The viral video is unrelated to the Sri Ganganagar rape victim. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in Dainik Bhaskar that contained a clip similar to the one on the top right corner of the viral video. According to the report, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped in the Bilgram area of Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi.
