American singer and internet personality Oliver Tree tragically died on 14 June 2026, in a mid-air helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was one of six individuals who lost their lives when the helicopter he was travelling in collided with another aircraft. Following the incident, a video is going viral on social media claiming to show the helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Let’s check the truth.
Fact check:
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to an NDTV report featuring the first part of the video, which shows two helicopters colliding mid-air. According to these reports, the video depicts a helicopter crash that occurred in Lumut, Malaysia, on 23 April 2024.

Moving forward, we also found a BBC report regarding this incident under the caption “Ten dead as navy helicopters collide mid-air in Malaysia.”

We also found the same information and scenes in the news on CNN on the same day that Malaysian Navy helicopters collide in mid-air, killing 10 crew. This proves that the video claiming to be of a helicopter crash in Brazil is actually a scene from an old helicopter crash that occurred in Malaysia.
Conclusion
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the video to be misleading. This is an old video depicting a helicopter crash that took place in Malaysia in April 2024.
