Fact Check

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook post on June 3, 2026, that contained the viral video.

The caption of the post read, “Dangerous waves caused by the effect of Typhoon No.6 (Jangmi) in Miyazaki prefecture, Japan”

We found a report on the official Instagram handle of Times Now on June 3, 2026, that contained the viral video. The caption read, “Typhoon Jangmi may have moved away, but its impact continues to be felt along Japan’s southern coastline, where powerful waves are still battering Nichinan City in Miyazaki Prefecture.

Even after the storm’s departure, rough seas and towering swells have persisted, keeping coastal conditions hazardous and underscoring the lingering force of the system. The ocean continues to show signs of instability long after the cyclone’s passage.

Authorities remain cautious as sea conditions stay unpredictable.”
