Old Video From Nepal Shared As Students’ Protest In Chhattisgarh.

Recently, a video of a massive crowd on the streets went viral on social media. Sharing the video on Instagram, a user wrote, “Police used water cannons to disperse students protesting over delays in filling government job vacancies in Chhattisgarh, where aspirants gathered demanding immediate recruitment and transparency in the hiring process, leading to tense scenes as authorities intervened to control the crowd while students continued raising concerns about unemployment and pending appointments.”

However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was misleading. The viral video is from Nepal. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram handle where the viral video was uploaded on September 13, 2025. According to the caption, the video was from the Gen Z movement in Nepal.

In the viral video, we noticed a sign reading “Bradford Tower” at the top of a building.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search and geolocated the place.

We found a report published in NDTV on September 8, 2025, that contained a video similar to the viral one. 

The report read, “At least seventeen people, including a 12-year-old, were killed and more than a hundred were injured in violent clashes in Nepal’s Kathmandu as Gen-Z protestors took to the streets to protest against corruption and the government’s ban on several media apps. The army was deployed in the Nepali capital after angry protesters broke curfew restrictions and entered restricted zones near Parliament.”

This makes it clear that the viral video is from the Gen Z movement in Nepal in September 2025.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video doesn’t show a students’ protest in Chhattisgarh. This is from the Gen Z movement in Nepal in September 2025.
