An old video from Gorakhpur goes viral linking to recent workers’ protest in Noida. 

A protest by a large number of factory employees demanding an increase in wages turned violent in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on 13 April 2026, as protestors set fire to vehicles and pelted stones over long-pending demands and alleged exploitation. Against this backdrop, a video of people pelting stones and attacking a vehicle of the Uttar Pradesh Police is going viral on social media. Users who shared the video claimed that it shows the recent scene of protests in Noida.

Fact check:

We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a report published on the NDTV website on 21 October, 2025 with the viral video attached. According to reports, villagers attacked a police vehicle in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh for not registering a case against the killers. 

The report further states Hanuman Chauhan, 35, a resident of Jawahar Chowk village, had an argument with Roshan Chauhan and several other villagers over a Durga Puja pavilion. Roshan and the others attacked Hanuman, and he sustained serious head injuries and later died. The villagers then blocked the Gorakhpur-Varanasi and Gorakhpur-Lucknow roads with Hanuman Chauhan’s body and demanded a case against Roshan and a job for a member of Hanuman’s family.

Moving forward, we came across a video report on the incident on the official YouTube channel of Zee news also. It was also uploaded on 22 October 2025. The description states, “Following the murder in Gorakhpur, chaos erupted. Angry people created a ruckus and pelted stones. The mob also pelted a police van”.

So, based on all this evidence, we can understand that this video is not recent and not related to recent Noida protests.
