However, upon investigation, we discovered that the video has been shared without context. Here’s the fact check.

We started our investigation by conducting a relevant keyword search. This led us to the official YouTube channel of Rahul Gandhi where the full version of the video was live-streamed on April 20, 2026. From the timestamp 17:14 Rahul Gandhi says, “The AIADMK played a historic role in Tamil Nadu’s progress. There were leaders in AIADMK who truly represented the people of Tamil Nadu. But today AIADMK is a hollow shell. It has now become an instrument of the BJP to enter Tamil Nadu. The leadership of the AIADMK has surrendered to the BJP because of their corruption. And the RSS planning is trying to rule Tamil Nadu by proxy, the same way Donald Trump controls the Prime Minister of India and the Prime Minister of India wants to control Tamil Nadu through AIADMK. And the DMK and the Congress party and our alliance are defending Tamil language, Tamil culture, Tamil history from RSS.”
This makes it clear that Rahul Gandhi mentioned the historical role of AIADMK, but criticized for their current leadership.
