An image of a Vistara flight boarding pass went viral on social media claiming that it belonged to Rahul Gandhi. According to the claim Rahul Gandhi booked a flight to Bangkok scheduled on 5 June 2024. The same image was forwarded to our 24*7 Factline number 9049053770.
However, as we investigated, we came to know that the image had been morphed. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
Looking closely at the viral image we found some discrepancies in the boarding pass. The flight number mentioned in the boarding pass is different on the right-hand side and left-hand side. On the left-hand side it is written as UK121 and on the right-hand side it is written as UK115.
Vistara flight number UK121 is for the flight from Delhi to Bangkok, while UK115 is for the Vistara flight from Delhi to Singapore
Moreover, boarding passes are generally issued 24 hours to 48 hours before departure depending on the airline and flight.
For Vistara flights, web check-in is available 48 hours prior to scheduled departure time and closes 1 hour prior to scheduled departure time for domestic flights. For international flights, web check-in is available 96 hours prior and closes 2 hours prior to scheduled departure time.
Moving forward by conducting a reverse image search we found a similar image in an article published on 9 August 2019 on the website “Live From Lounge“. The boarding pass bore the name Ajay Awtaney, the founder and editor of this website and was dated August 6, 2019. The pass was for a flight from Delhi to Singapore.
The comparison between the viral image and the original image can be seen below from which it is clear that the viral image has been edited.
We also contacted Ajay Awtaney for confirmation. We will update it here whenever we get a reply from him.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the viral image has been altered. The boarding pass shown in the viral post does not belong to Rahul Gandhi. The original boarding pass belonged to Ajay Awtaney who took the Vistara flight from Delhi to Singapore in 2019.
