The Image Of Assamese Actor Jatin Bora Planting A Lotus In The Soil Is Edited.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, social media is flooded with people planting saplings. On this backdrop an image of Assamese actor Jatin Bora going viral on social media. The image shows Jatin Bora planting a lotus in the soil. Sharing the image a Facebook user wrote, “World Environment Day 😊”

However, as we investigated, we came to know that the viral image had been morphed. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

At the beginning of our investigation, we contacted actor Jatin Bora. He said that the photo was edited. He planted a sapling and it’s an old photo. He said that the original photo is still available on social media.

Then we tried to find the viral image on the official Facebook page of Jatin Bora. As a result, we found a post from 5 June 2020. There we could see that Jatin Bora was planting a tree, not a lotus in the soil. 

The caption of the post read, “Today on the occasion of World Environment day we planted a new sapling with hope and prosperity. On Monday we plan to distribute and plant more saplings as a part of our on going initiative from Biju Phukan Trust to help of fellow colleagues from the Theater Industry in Mangaldoi.”

From this, it is clear that the viral image has been morphed. 

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the viral image has been altered. Assamese actor Jatin Bora was not planting a lotus in the soil. Instead, he was planting a sapling on the occasion of World Environment Day and it’s an old photo.
