An image of a soldier sitting on the ground with wrinkles on his feet due to sweat after long duty hours is going viral on social media. According to the claim, these are the feet of an Indian soldier.
However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. These are the feet of a US soldier and not of an Indian army.
What’s The Claim?
Sharing the image, social media users are claiming that these are the feet of an Indian soldier covered with wrinkles due to sweat in his shoes after his long duty hours. These soldiers deserve our salute.
Fact Check-
A Google Reverse Image Search on the viral image led us to a tweet from a user on 30 December 2019. The tweet read, “These are the feet of soldiers who were full of pain and patriotism and lost their peace. If they will rest, then our peace will be lost. Salute to our heroes.”
After this, we zoomed in on the image that was on the tweet. We found out that the soldier’s army uniform had US Marine written on it. From this, it became clear that the soldier sitting on the ground with wrinkled feet is not an Indian army soldier but a US Marine.
We also found the same image published on a website in 2018. Along with the image it was written, “Everyone who has served knows the pain of rucking. It’s one of those things where you just get over it and push forward”
Further research led us to US government’s defense website where the evolution of US Marines uniform over the years can be seen. In this website, we found that the uniform of US Marine from 2019 to present date is similar to the one on viral image.
Conclusion:
Fact Crescendo found that the viral image is not of an Indian army soldier but of US Marine personnel. Image of wrinkled feet of US Army viral as of an Indian army soldier.
