Arvind Kejriwal Was Not Wearing Shoes While Paying Homage to Bhagat Singh

An image of Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal is going viral on social media with a claim that Arvind Kejriwal did not remove his shoes while paying respect at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial. 

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This viral image is from the Jallianwala Bagh visit and he was not wearing shoes at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial.

FACT CHECK

Google reverse image search led us to a report published by Jagran on 14 March 2022. According to the report, Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwat Mann paid a visit to Hari Mandir Sahib (Golden Temple) after their victory in the recent Punjab elections. 

On 13 March 2022, Live Mint reported that Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, and other party members visited Jallianwala Bagh and paid tributes at the memorial. They also visited Golden Temple, Durgiana Temple, and Valmiki Temple before the oath-taking ceremony on March 16 at Khatkar Kalan (Bhagat Singh’s native village).

News 18 Punjab/Haryana/Himachal, uploaded a video on their YouTube channel whose caption reads “Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann after paying homage at Golden Temple reached Jallianwala Bagh and paid homage to the martyrs.” (YouTube Link)

When did Arvind Kejriwal visit Bhagat Singh Memorial?

On 16 March, Aam Aadmi Party uploaded a video of Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann paying their respects at Bhagat Singh Memorial at Khatkar Kalan. 

In the above video, it is clearly visible that Arvind Kejriwal did not wear shoes while paying homage at the Bhagat Singh Memorial. 

CONCLUSION

Fact Crescendo found the claim in the post to be false. The viral image is not from the Bhagat Singh Memorial but Jallianwala Bagh Memorial. Also, Kejriwal was not wearing shoes at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial.
