Amidst the ongoing police tussle over the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the handing over of the investigation to the CBI, a claim is being made on social media through sensational news that the DGP of Bihar, Gupteshwar Pandey has resigned from his post. Maurya News18 was the first to publish this news on social media, through which it has claimed that it came to know from Delhi sources that DGP Gupteshwar Pandey has submitted his resignation to the Union Home Ministry through the Government of Bihar on Saturday 22 August 2020.
We started the investigation by running a keyword search on Google on the above news. As a result, we did not find any reliable news related to the resignation of the DGP of Bihar Gupteshwar Pandey. Therefore, Fact Crescendo contacted DGP Gupteshwar Pandey of Bihar who told us that “the claims going on social media are fake. I have also issued an explanation in this context on my Twitter account. I am still the DGP of Bihar and I have not resigned from this post. “
DGP Gupteshwar Pandey denied the news through his Twitter account, tweeting that “Now a news portal from Bihar has created a sensation by running false news about my resignation from my job.”
Conclusion: We found the above post wrong after checking the facts. The news of DGP Gupteshwar Pandey’s resignation is absolutely false. He spoke to us and confirmed that this news is only a rumour.
