On June 3, 2026, a fire broke out in a hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, killing 21 people, out of whom 12 were identified as foreign nationals. At least 58 people have been rescued and rushed to the nearby Max Hospital. Locals started the rescue operation even before the arrival of the rescue team. Against this backdrop, a video of a woman being assisted in climbing down a ladder from a building engulfed in thick smoke and flames went viral on social media. Sharing the video, users claimed that the video shows the Malviya Nagar fire incident.
However, upon investigation, we found that the claim was false. The viral video is not from India. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to the YouTube channel of the South China Morning Post, where a longer version of the viral video was uploaded on December 11, 2025.

According to the report, the video was from the Philippines. The description of the video read, “A woman is drawing praise online for saving her two dogs before escaping herself from a burning building in the Philippines. Viral images show the woman tossing the animals to safety and then finally climbing down a fire ladder during the December 10, 2025, incident.”
According to a report published in The Star on December 11, 2025, “…The incident happened early on Thursday (Dec 10) in Mandaue city, in the central Philippine province of Cebu…”

Other reports can be seen here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video is not related to the Malviya Nagar fire incident.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show the recent fire incident in a hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area. This is an old video from Mandaue City, Philippines.
