Those sharing the video allege that it depicts an Islamist teacher attacking a Christian student in Pakistan for wearing a cross. We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar video uploaded on YouTube by the Swedish media outlet Alkompis in October 2025 under the caption, “Shocking video sparks outrage in Iraq: Father brutally beats his daughter”
Using these hints, we conducted further searches and found a video report by another media outlet, AL Mashhad, featuring the same video. The report mentioned that a young girl was subjected to horrific torture by her father using a water hose in Iraq. The description part states, “A shocking scene shakes Iraq! A young girl is subjected to horrific torture by her father using a water hose, amidst agonising screams that did not spare her from the cruelty. The case has sparked widespread outrage and demands for harsh penalties”.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the Al-Rusafa area of Baghdad in October 2025. The police detained the suspect after the footage sparked widespread public outrage. Authorities stated that legal procedures had been initiated, and the girl was placed under official care for physical and psychological assessment.
According to an Iraqi media outlet Alsharqiya, a representative for the Ministry of Interior revealed that the detained man was in a dispute with his wife, who lived separately. He recorded himself assaulting his daughter and sent it to his wife in an attempt to persuade her to return home. After the wife made the video public, the Ministry of Interior intervened, and the suspect was promptly arrested.
This indicates that the viral video is from Iraq and is being shared with a false communal angle.
