Russian President Vladimir Putin was in India for a two-day state visit. A claim circulating online alleges that the official menu served at a state banquet for him was filled with spelling mistakes.

Fact Check- 

We conducted a keyword search for ‘Putin state banquet menu’ and the results led us to an X post by news agency Press Trust of India (PTI).

Russia-based news organisation RT India’s X account, too, shared the same set of images of the menu, which also did not carry any typographical errors.

Upon comparison, we found that several words in the viral photo, such as Spiced, Garnished, Seeds, Morels, and Sheermal, were either misspelled or altered. These errors do not appear in the official menu.

Additionally we found multiple news reports that also featured the menu card. No typographical mistakes were found in these either, further confirming that the viral image was digitally altered and not authentic.

Thus, we can understand that an altered image is being shared to claim that the menu for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state banquet was full of typographical errors.

Conclusion-
