Amidst this, a video showing heavy rainwater flooding on roads and disrupting vehicles has gone viral on social media with claims that it is from Marina Beach Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Fact Check-
Our investigation began with a reverse image search of key frames from the viral video and the results led us to a Facebook post uploaded on 3 July with the caption Heavy rain in Jeddah city carrying the same viral video.

Moving forward, we found the same video on Newsflare, an online news video community on 3 September 2024 with the caption, “Saudi Arabia: Heavy rain has flooded the streets of Jeddah”.

We found news headlines about severe rainfall in Jeddah on 2 September 2024. It resulted in flash floods, which caused widespread disruption. Schools and roads were closed due to flooding. At least 5 people lost their lives during these floods, highlighting the severity of the situation. A notification from the Saudi Press Agency’s website confirmed that Jeddah met with heavy rainfall on 2 September.
