Fact check:

At first, we searched for news reports on the demolition of mosques in Meerut but found no credible sources covering the issue.

Next, we started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google, and the results led us to a news report by Dainik Bhaskar English, which carried the same visuals. The report published on 9 May states, “A rally commemorating the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap in Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh, turned violent following a dispute between a youth and a shopkeeper in Dehra village of the Dhaulana area.” Police reports indicate that the altercation began when some rally participants paused to garland Maharana Pratap’s statue, and one of them entered a nearby shop, leading to an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.

The Hapur Police’s official X account also shared a video statement of Superintendent Shri Kunwar Gyananjay Singh on 10 May 2026. The tweet states, “Dhaulana Police Station has swiftly taken action and arrested 03 accused individuals involved in the stone-pelting incident that occurred between groups during the Shobha Yatra in Dehra village on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti, while 05 suspicious persons have been taken into custody on suspicion for interrogation.” The press note attached to the post listed their names as Zahid, Mehtab, and Nausher.

Based on all this evidence, we can understand that a video showing clashes in Hapur in UP is falsely shared as visuals of six mosques being demolished in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
