Recently, a video showing a Muslim man offering prayers and a few men playing instruments behind him went viral on social media. Sharing the video users claimed that the video is from Kolkata. After the BJP’s victory in the recent elections, Muslims are being harassed like this.

However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to the recent West Bengal Assembly Elections. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a Facebook post on February 28, 2026, that contained the viral video with the claim that musical instruments had been played inside a mosque in India.
This makes it clear that the video predates the recent West Bengal Assembly Elections.
Moving forward, we found a clearer version of the viral video on a TikTok account “Gochi Shahi Dorbar Sharif” on June 12, 2025. Since TikTok is banned in India, we accessed the account with the help of our Sri Lankan team.
According to the caption, the video shows a “Band Party” performing inside the “Gochi Shahi Dorbar Sharif”.
It is worth mentioning that the Gochi Shahi Dorbar Sharif is a religious place in Raozan, Bangladesh.
Moving forward, using relevant keywords we found the YouTube channel of the Gochi Shahi Dorbar Sharif. We found other videos of people playing musical instruments inside the same structure.
This makes it clear that the viral video is old and not from India.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show people playing musical instruments inside a mosque in Kolkata after the BJP’s victory in the West Bengal Assembly Elections. This is an old video from a dargah in Bangladesh.
