Old Unrelated Video From Manipur Shared Linking To The West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026.

Recently, a video of an army convoy went viral on social media, claiming it was from West Bengal, ahead of the 2026 Assembly Elections.

However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was false. The viral video is not from West Bengal. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check 

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to Reddit where the viral video was uploaded on February 22, 2025. According to the caption, the video was from Manipur.

Moving forward, we found a tweet on February 17, 2025, that contained the viral video.

According to the tweet, the viral video is from Imphal, Manipur.

The Indian army announces to the public that they have come here to restore peace and urging people to stay at home.

Moreover, the language spoken in the original video is Manipuri. People are urged not to go outside according to the audio. 

Further, the Google Maps images of Imphal match the road in the viral video.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026.

Conclusion 

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show the current situation in West Bengal ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. This is an old video from Manipur.
