Old Video Of A Brain-Dead Woman In Surat Is Going Viral Linking To The Harish Rana Case.

False Social

Recently, the Supreme Court allowed passive euthanasia for Harish Rana from Gaziabad, who has been in a coma for the past 13 years. This is the first-ever passive euthanasia case in India. Following the court’s order, doctors at AIIMS New Delhi initiated the process of passive euthanasia. Against this backdrop, a video went viral on social media that shows medical staff and the public gathering around a patient. The medical staff carried an organ donation box to an ambulance. Sharing the video, users claimed that it shows Harish Rana being taken to AIIMS New Delhi for a final goodbye.

However, upon investigation, we discovered that the claim was false. The viral video is old and unrelated to Harish Rana. Here’s the fact check.

Fact Check

At the beginning of our investigation, we noticed that the organ donation box is labelled in Gujarati as “લિવર” (Liver).

Moreover, in one of the key frames of the viral video, we noticed the hospital name written in Gujarati “ડાયમંડ હોસ્પિટલ” (Diamond Hospital).

This indicates that the video could be from Gujarat.

We took screenshots from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search. This led us to an Instagram handle where the viral video was uploaded on January 27, 2026.

According to the caption, the video shows a brain-dead woman in Surat whose liver, two kidneys and eyes were donated. The post contained an image of the woman.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search in Gujarati and a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in the Gujarati News 18 on January 24, 2026, that contained the photo of the woman that we had found on the Instagram post.

The translation of the report read, “An example of the great spirit of humanity and social service, an important organ donation was successfully completed in Surat. Due to the organ donation done by organ donor Ritaben Hareshbhai Korat (Age: 45 years), Surat, native of Jetpur, district Rajkot, a total of five needy patients have got a new lease of life.

According to the details received, on 22/01/2026 at around 3:30 pm, Ritaben Korat called her son Raj Hareshbhai Korat and told him that she was not feeling well and asked him to come home. When her son reached home, Ritaben was vomiting and felt extremely weak in her body. She was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, from where the doctor advised her to go to Diamond Hospital in Surat for further treatment. After conducting the necessary tests at Diamond Hospital, Dr Deepesh Kakkar (Neurosurgeon) and a team of doctors declared the patient brain dead. At this critical moment, the family members Hareshbhai Korat, Raj Korat, Rajvi Korat, Kaushikbhai Korat, Keshavlal Bhuva, Vipulbhai Bhuva, Dineshbhai Abhangi, and Kishorebhai Ribdia contacted Jeevandeep Organ Donation Foundation to decide on humane and courageous organ donation.

Moving forward, we found a video report in Gujarati on YouTube on January 28, 2026. The report contained the viral video.

According to the report, the video shows Ritaben Korat, whose organs were donated after she had been declared brain-dead.

Another report can be seen below.

This makes it clear that the viral video is old and unrelated to Harish Rana.

Conclusion

From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show Harish Rana being taken to AIIMS New Delhi. The video is old. It shows Ritaben Korat, a brain-dead woman in Surat whose organs were donated.
