The Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi denied the claim stating Widodo has never visited the Tirupati Tirumala temple.

A video is going viral on social media featuring a man dressed in red and orange clothing, adorned with a traditional gold-coloured headband, bracelet, and necklace. He is seen walking through a crowded area, accompanied by several bodyguards. The users who share the video claims former Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) made a pilgrimage to the Tirumala Temple in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The caption of the post states, “On January 29, 2026, former Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited the holy Tirumala Tirupati Temple in Andhra Pradesh, India. A Muslim leader bowing his head in devotion at the shrine of Lord Venkateswara — a sight that truly warmed hearts”.

When we verified, we found that no credible Indonesian news outlet or official source had published this video or provided any information regarding Joko Widodo’s visit to the Tirumala Temple.We reviewed Joko Widodo’s verified social media accounts but there were no posts, images, or updates suggesting travel to India or a temple visit.

Moving forward, we came across a X post shared by the Indonesian Embassy in Delhi, where they denied the claim associated with the viral video. The tweet states, “The Embassy of Indonesia in New Delhi respectfully clarifies that the information shared is factually inaccurate. The Former President of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, has NEVER made a visit to the Lord Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala at any point during or after his term in office

However, Jokowi was not visiting India on that date. Through Joko Widodo’s official X account, the former Indonesian president announced that he was receiving a visit from the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, at his home in Solo, Central Java. According to Jawapos.com, the visit took place on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Conclusion

Fact Crescendo found that the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi denied the claim stating Widodo has never visited the Tirupati Tirumala temple.
