The video shows Indian mountaineers, led by Narendra Kumar, climbing Pico de Orizaba, the highest mountain in Mexico.

A video purporting to depict Indian soldiers stationed in the Siachen region has gone viral on social media. In the video, we can see three men in snowsuits tied to each other with a rope and trekking a snow-clad mountain surrounded by dense fog. Siachen Glacier is the coldest and highest region of India, located at 5,400 meters (17,700 feet). The temperature here remains in minus throughout the year. It is extremely cold even in summers. The users who share the video claims that it shows Indian soldiers stationed in the harsh environment of the Siachen Glacier.
Let’s check the truth.
Fact Check-
We started our investigation by performing a reverse image search with the key frames of the viral video and the results led us to a report published by the Free Press Journal under the caption, “Indian Mountaineers Conquer Mexico’s Highest Peak, Pico de Orizaba, North America’s Tallest Volcano”. The report carries a screenshot of the viral video. As per the report, “In a remarkable feat of endurance and teamwork, a group of Indian mountaineers successfully summited Pico de Orizaba, Mexico’s highest peak and the tallest volcano in North America, in December 2025. The expedition was led by high-altitude climber Narendra Kumar”.

Moving forward, we found that Narendra Kumar also uploaded on his official Instagram handle (@narendermountaineer) on 14 December 2025. The caption of the post states, “Step by step, breath by breath… summit tak ka safar. Team on the peak of Orizaba in Mexico. This video belongs to Ruslan Gazonio (@ruslan_gazonio), Galymzhan Kuspanov (@pankuspan), and Alex Abramov (@alex. abramov).”
This indicates that the post identified the visuals as depicting a group of mountaineers on Pico de Orizaba in Mexico.
On a successful expedition, a team of mountaineers led by Narendra Kumar from Hisar, Haryana, climbed Pico de Orizaba, Mexico’s highest peak at 5,636 meters (18,491 feet). The ascent via the Jamapa Glacier route in challenging winter conditions mark a significant achievement in Indian mountaineering.
So, a video of mountaineers climbing Pico de Orizaba in Mexico was falsely shared as visuals of Indian soldiers deployed at the Siachen Glacier.
Conclusion-
Fact Crescendo found the claim made along with the viral video to be False. The video is unrelated to Siachen. It features a team led by Indian mountaineer Narendra Kumar as they climb Pico de Orizaba in Mexico, which has an elevation of 5,636 meters (18,491 feet).
