Fake Reward Scam: Beware of Free Money Under PM Mudra Yojana Post

False Online Scams

A viral post is going viral on social media claiming that the government is giving free cashback under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. The viral post says users can win up to Rs. 2000 by scratching a digital card on a website.

In another version of the claim, a separate post features an audio that sounds like Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. It claims that every resident of Uttar Pradesh will receive Rs. 5,000 under the PM Mudra scheme.

Many users are sharing these links believing them to be genuine government benefits. Fact Crescendo found these claims to be false.

WHAT’S THE CLAIM?

The viral post says, “Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, you are getting a free reward of up to Rs 2000. To claim the reward, click the Learn More button below. Scratch the card and receive the money through your PhonePe or PayTM.” The post also includes a link to a website (https://viralmediabundle.shop/raj1/).

We checked the official Mudra Yojana website and its verified social media handles. There is no notification, announcement, or update about any such scratch card reward. The Government of India does not run any scheme where users must scratch a card on an unknown website to claim money.

We also looked for any statement, video or news report of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announcing Rs. 5000 for the state’s citizens. There is no official press release, media coverage, or verified clip of him making this claim.

The link shared in the viral message leads to a fraudulent website. It shows a photo of the Prime Minister and claims that money will be deposited directly into the user’s account.

Once users scratch the digital card, they are redirected to the PhonePe app. Instead of receiving money, they are shown a payment screen. T

The page asks users to “claim the reward,” but that actually triggers a payment request. If users enter their UPI PIN, the scammers deduct around Rs. 655 from their bank account.

You don’t need your UPI PIN to receive money. A PIN is required only when sending money, which clearly exposes the scam.

These posts are intentionally created to mislead people by using government names, official photos, and audio mimicking public figures.

CONCLUSION

The claim that Mudra Yojana is giving Rs. 2000 or Rs. 5000 through a scratch card link is false. The website is not related to any government scheme and is part of an online scam. Neither the Government of India nor UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched any such offer.
