However, as we investigated, we came to know that the claim was false. The convoy didn’t belong to a BJP leader. Here’s the fact check.
Fact Check
We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a report published in Dainik Bhaskar 4 months ago that contained the viral video. According to the report, the BJP workers threw black flags at the Revenue Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jagat Singh Negi.

Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search that led us to a video report on a YouTube channel on 26 July 2025.
The caption of the video read, “FIR lodged for stopping minister Jagat Singh Negi’s car and throwing black flags and shoes: Mandi”.
In this video, we noticed a clip similar to the viral video.

According to a report published in The Indian Express, the police in Mandi registered three FIRs against more than 50 people, including BJP workers, for wrongful restraint, unlawful assembly and rioting after they welcomed Cabinet Minister Jagat Singh Negi with black flags, raised “go back” slogans and tried to stop his vehicle during his visit to the disaster affected areas under Thunag sub division of the district. The protest was against the Himachal Pradesh government’s decision to relocate a college to Thunag, and protesters even threw shoes at the officials. The Congress party has accused the BJP of instigating the protests.
It is worth mentioning that the ruling party of Himachal Pradesh is the Indian National Congress.
Other reports can be read here and here.
This makes it clear that the viral video shows people throwing black flags at the vehicle of Himachal Pradesh minister Jagat Singh Negi.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is false. The viral video doesn’t show people throwing black flags at a BJP leader’s convoy as a protest against “Vote Chori”. The video shows people throwing black flags at the vehicle of the Congress leader and Himachal Pradesh minister Jagat Singh Negi.
