However, as we investigated, we learned that the claim is misleading. The viral video is not from Uttarakhand. Here’s the fact check.

We started our investigation by taking screenshots from the viral video and conducting a reverse image search. This led us to a YouTube channel where the viral video was uploaded on 1 August 2025.

According to the description, the video is from Jispa, Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh.
Taking this clue, we conducted a relevant keyword search. We found a similar video uploaded on the YouTube channel of Zee Business on 1 August 2025. The caption of the video read, “Cloudburst Near Jispa Blocks Leh-Manali Highway | BRO Camp Hit by Debris”

A video report uploaded on the YouTube channel News18 India containing the viral clip can be seen below.

This makes it clear that the viral video is from Jispa, Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh.
Conclusion
From our investigation, we can say that the claim is misleading. The viral video of the mudslide is not from Badrinath, Uttarakhand. It’s an old video from Jispa, Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh.
