Following this, a photo collage has gone viral on social media, claiming that cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his wife, Anjali Tendulkar, gave Shubman Gill a standing ovation in recognition of his achievement.

Fact Check-
We started our investigation with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a similar image uploaded by Getty Images on 6 July, 2024. The caption states, “LONDON, ENGLAND – JULY 06: Sachin Tendulkar and Anjali Tendulkar attend day six of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on July 06, 2024 in London, England.”
This indicates that this image is not related to the recently concluded India-England test match at Edgbaston.
Upon further search, we found that the official twitter handle of Wimbledon too shared a post welcoming the former cricketer. It was shared on 6 July 2024 and showed Tendulkar dressed in the same attire as seen in the viral image.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill’s form was praised by fans on the internet and former cricketers alike. Sachin Tendulkar praised the entire team, as well as Gill’s performance.
Based on all these evidences, we can understand that an old image of Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali at Wimbledon is falsely shared linking to Shubman Gill’s recent century and India’s win in England.
